Hear the story of a recent Duke spin-out, Aerie Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company developing new therapies for sight-threatening diseases of the eye. The company is based on innovations from the labs of David Epstein, MD, Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, and Eric Toone, PhD, Professor of Chemistry. Headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, Aerie completed a $21 million Series A financing in October, 2005 and now has several drugs in clinical development.
